Harvesting from garden to table is what I always wait, to get all those sweet and lovely ripened figs.

Figs are one of those fruits that can be used in so many different ways, from savory dishes to sweet treats. They’ve become a staple in my kitchen, and I love finding new ways to incorporate them into my meals. Here are a few of my all-time favorite fig recipes that never fail to impress:

Fig and Goat Cheese Salad
This salad is a perfect combination of flavors and textures. Fresh figs, with their sweet and juicy flesh, pair beautifully with creamy goat cheese and the crunch of toasted almonds. To make it, simply slice fresh figs and toss them with mixed greens like arugula or spinach. Add crumbled goat cheese and toasted almonds for an extra layer of flavor and texture. Drizzle with a balsamic glaze or olive oil and finish with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. It’s the ideal dish for a light lunch or as a starter for a larger meal.

Grilled Figs with Prosciutto
One of my favorite ways to enjoy figs is by grilling them. Slice fresh figs in half, wrap them with thin slices of prosciutto, and grill them for a few minutes until the prosciutto is crispy and the figs are tender. The sweet figs complement the salty prosciutto perfectly, and the grill adds a smoky flavor that makes this dish even more delicious. It’s a simple yet elegant appetizer that is always a crowd-pleaser.

Fig Jam
Homemade fig jam is a must-have in my kitchen. To make it, simply simmer fresh figs with sugar, lemon juice, and a bit of vanilla until the mixture thickens. The result is a rich, sweet jam with the perfect balance of fruity and tangy flavors. I use it on toast, swirled into yogurt, or paired with cheese for a delightful snack. Making fig jam is a great way to preserve the harvest and enjoy the flavor of fresh figs all year round.

Fig-Infused Chicken Roast
For a savory twist, I love adding fresh figs to a roast chicken dish. I stuff the chicken with figs, rosemary, garlic, and a touch of olive oil. The figs cook down into a jammy, caramelized consistency, adding natural sweetness to the savory chicken. It’s a one-pan meal that’s easy to make and incredibly flavorful. The figs balance out the richness of the chicken and provide a perfect contrast to the savory herbs and spices.

Fig and Almond Cake
For dessert, this fig and almond cake is my go-to recipe. It’s moist, rich, and filled with the delightful flavors of figs and almonds. To make it, combine almond flour, butter, sugar, eggs, and a bit of baking powder to create a batter. Fold in chopped fresh figs, and bake until golden brown. The result is a dense, flavorful cake that’s not too sweet and pairs wonderfully with a cup of tea or coffee. It’s the perfect way to end a meal or enjoy as a snack.

Figs are a versatile and delicious fruit that can be used in a variety of dishes, from appetizers to desserts. Whether fresh or dried, they bring a sweet, complex flavor that elevates any recipe. If you haven’t yet experimented with figs in your cooking, I highly recommend giving these recipes a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed!🌱

For all growers like me enjoy waiting to get another fig harvest from garden to table.
